IPEN Participating Organization Armenian Women for Health and Healthy Environment (AWHHE) recently joined with the Eco-Coalition, an environmental alliance of NGOs of Armenia, to send the United Nations Environment Programme a letter asking them to work to influence the Armenian government to reverse the environmentally unsound and dangerous decisions they have made concerning Lake Sevan. The letter was accompanied by a petition (below), which was signed by 100 supporters from more than 35 countries around the world.
IPEN Participating Organization Health and Environment Alliance (HEAL) launched figures today showing that exposure to endocrine disruptors may be responsible for up to €31 billion per year in health costs in the European Union.
On June 10, 2014, IPEN joined more than 80 environmental and human rights organizations, socially responsible investment firms, and occupational health professionals to send a letter to Lisa Jackson, Vice President of Environmental Affairs at Apple, calling on the company to remove hazardous chemicals, such as benzene, from its supplier factories in an effort to protect workers from grave illnesses.
On World Environment Day Pesticide Action Network (PAN) calls on citizens and governments to take action on highly toxic pesticides and make the planet a safer place. PAN has released an updated list of highly hazardous pesticides (HHPs) to call the attention to these dangerous chemicals.
