Today, top-tens of the biggest polluters of Kazakhstan based on the official data were published. The charts reveal that the environment has been greatly contaminated by steelworks Kazakhmys and ArcelorMittal, oil companies KazMunaiGas and KazTransOil and power plant in Ekibastuz. IPEN joined over 65 organizations signing-on to a letter to the President of the European Parliament expressing concerns that the European Commission (EC) is failing to respect the European Parliament's 2015 resolution on the Trans-Atlantic Trade and Investment Partnership (TTIP).
The Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE) office in Yerevan, Armenia presented a "Best Women Entrepreneur for 2016" prize to IPEN Participating Orgnization Armenian Women for Health and Healthy Environment (AWHHE) for their project to improve entrepreneurial skills and income generating capacities of female farmers through the use of solar fruit- and herb-drying equipment and technologies. The awards were presented to local partners that have promoted good and innovative practices through project activities.
Makati City/Quezon City. As Filipinos usher in the Duterte government and his promise of change, environmental activists gathered anew outside the Embassy of Canada in Makati City to denounce the long-drawn-out Canadian garbage dumping scandal that has haunted the outgoing Aquino administration.
At a peaceful rally organized by the EcoWaste Coalition and Buklod Tao, the activists called out Prime Minister Justin Trudeau for his government’s failure to re-import the illegal trash shipments that have been rotting in Manila and Subic ports.

IPEN and Participating Organization (PO) representatives from Armenian Women for Health and Healthy Environment (Armenia), Greenwomen (Kazakhstan), Independent Ecological Expertise (Kyrgyzstan), Eco-Accord (Russia), Volgograd Ecopress (Russia) and others participated in the recent 8th Environment for Europe Ministerial Conference in Batumi, Georgia (8 - 10 June, 2016). The theme of this year’s Conference was “Greener, Cleaner, Smarter,” and much of its content focused on a green economy. See detailed information here.
On the occasion of World Environment Day, Ram Charitra Sah, Director of IPEN Participating Organization Center for Public Health and Environmental Development (CEPHED), was presented with the Environment Conservation Award 2016 by K.P. Sharma Oli, Rt. Honorable Prime Minister of the Federal Democratic Republic of Nepal. The award recognized Mr. Sah's work for environment conservation and protection of public health.
