Country situation report on POPs in Venezuela.
This report was coordinated by the NGO, Fundación Aguaclara, which produced the country situation report through research of academic and government documents, along with interviews of experts and members of the Coordination Committee of the NIP. The report covers POPs in general in Venezuela, obsolete POPs pesticide stockpiles, PCBs, Dioxins, Furans and citizen participation in the NIP. The report was widely distributed among NGOs, grassroots groups and academia through electronic media and radio, and it can be found on the NGO's website at http://www.aguaclara.org. Fundación Aguaclara is participating as the NGO representative in the National Coordination Committee for the development of the National Implementation Plan (NIP) of the Stockholm Convention. The report is based on direct research, especially in the area of obsolete stocks of pesticides, and it includes the results of interviews with the university coordinators of the working groups that are developing the NIP in Venezuela. The report recommends a series of activities to increase the citizen participation in this process.
