Global day of action on POPs in Moldova.
Members of the Chisinau Territorial Organization of the Environmental Movement of Moldova conducted environmental lessons on "POPs, Environment and Health" in eight schools. On April 14, 2005 a roundtable discussion "Environment, Chemical Pollutants and Children's Health" was conducted. The roundtable participants decided to develop recommendations for the national government on reduction of adverse impacts of POPs on children's health and environment, to publish materials, presented by the roundtable participants. The activity culminated on April 22, 2005-when "Chisinau Children against POP"" action was held in the Central Army Palace. Children visited a concert, organized by a group of environmental NGOs (including the Chisinau Territorial Organization of the Environmental Movement of Moldova, "Ecosphere" and "Unda Verde"). The children were addressed by Mr. Valentin Pleshka, a representative of the Ministry of Environment and Natural Resources, the POPs project manager in Moldova, and by other officials.
