Women2030 Coalition Launch Website on International Women’s Day

Munich, Germany

For Immediate Release

The Women2030 global coalition launched our website, women2030.org today on International Women’s Day. This website will be a one stop resource for to build capacity of women’s and gender civil society organizations to advance local, national and regional gender-responsive sustainable development policies through participation in policy development and monitoring, mobilizing citizen’s support and demonstrating best practices.

Our theme for International Women’s Day ‘Press for Progress’ is reflected on our website through women’s stories of change called #HerstoryOfChange. Together with our local partners we are building capacity, pressing for progress at local, regional and international level and bringing local issues to the global space.

To implement the Sustainable Development Goals with a gender equality lens, our website will aim to question structural inequality and entrenched gender roles. The website will have training materials, a resource database, bottom-up gender disaggregated data, information about gender equality and the SDGs, guidelines for gender analysis, and policy and advocacy tools.

It will be a central source of information on progress towards the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development , focusing  on Gender Equality (SDG 5), Universal access to Water and Sanitation (SDG 6), Sustainable Energy (SDG 7), Decent Work (SDG 8), Sustainable Production and Consumption (SDG 12), Mitigating Climate Change (SDG 13), and Conserving Forest and Biodiversity (SDG 15).

Additionally, the website will showcase engagement of our civil society organizational partners and Women’s Major Group networks with over 900 member organisations in over 100 countries at various levels to realise these goals, thus proving a useful resource for donors, governments, and general public on CSO engagement in the SDGs.
